Hyderabad Tales

Why do friends get married? I still don't know whether I should be happy or very very sad. She is off to US Who will give me my dose of home made south Indian coffee now? All the shopping, watching movies, making plans over the weekends gone just like that...enough of my ranting. This was my first Telugu South Indian wedding and my first visit to Hyderabad. The only two things I knew about the place was Karachi biscuits and Biryani. Yes, Karachi biscuits supercedes the famous Hyderabadi Biryani now!I stayed in Banjara Hills and then on MG road both the places different ,yet there was a sense of comfort.

The Wedding

It was a traditional south Indian one, starting early in the morning ( the bride was up at 5 AM...crazy). Followed by the rituals she made it to the venue by 10AM. According to the tradition the girl is supposed to change twice.

Vinisha (my friend:)) wore a blue sari first with the traditional head gear and other jewellery. I absolutely adored the hair do ,long braid wrapped in white Jasmine flowers adorned by round hair clips called Billai.

Post the ceremonies in blue sari, she changed to a white one ,which was my favorite:) A simple silk sari with a colorful border made her look so graceful.

Bling free marriage is how I term it.(Calls for a deeper thought.I start a social media campaign #blingfreeweddings)

The Bridegroom -Preparing for the Kashi yatra. Fun thing!First read about it in Chetan Bhagat's 2 states

Wedding Venue

Hyderabad-The City
After the wedding day, while exploring the city we found this amazing Italian restaurant- Pasta Bar Veneto in Jubilee Hills . Serves good food & drinks, quick service and has an open terrace. Night view of the city view from here is worth a watch

This is from the Old city of Hyderabad. Stopped at Hotel Nayaab on my way to Chaarminar, to get a taste of the famous Hyderabadi cuisine. Traditional set up, no frills but good food. The staple Hyderabadi dessert -Kubbani Ka Meetha was not to my liking,to sweet I guess

Chaarminar and the Golkonda Fort
Wish Chaarminar was maintained better. The encroachment, street vendors, traffic and pollution makes it very unappealing (just being honest). It's a beautiful monument we simply need to preserve it the way it should be.Golkonda fort was fun enjoyed hiking to the top

Us Three at the wedding
Vinisha ,the bride, Aishwarya, next to me in a Blue Sari .We met at our danceclass a few years ago, never knew the friendship would grow this strong
